Biography

Clare Keefe Coleman is an experienced writing teacher, editor and writer.

In addition to teaching in the Legal Writing program, Professor Coleman works closely with students in the programs for international students, providing academic support and advising. Previously, she served as director of student advising.

Professor Coleman taught a course on landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases at the College of Management Academic Studies in Rishon LeZion, Israel in 2016 and 2019.

She has presented at the Legal Writing Institute and at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

Before joining the law school, she practiced with Conrad O'Brien Gellman & Rohn, P.C., Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin and Drinker Biddle & Reath, where she specialized in commercial litigation. Her professional experience includes magazine editing and teaching fiction writing. She has won writing awards from the Writing Aloud/InterAct Theatre Company and the Philadelphia City Paper.

Professor Coleman’s article “Dangerous Tongues: Storytelling in Congressional Testimony and an Evidence-Based Solution” was published in New York University’s Journal of Legislation and Public Policy. Her article, "Teaching the Torture Memos: 'Making Decisions under Conditions of Uncertainty,'" appeared in the Journal of Legal Education.

Professor Coleman received her JD from the Villanova University School of Law and an MA in creative writing from Temple University.
